TRAINING WORKSHOP: "Learning R through modelling sports - An interactive introduction to the R language"

Thu 16 - Fri 17 April 2020 or Wed 24 - Thu 25 June 2020

Oxygen House, Exeter

Applications are welcomed from penultimate/final-year students or Masters/PhD students in mathematics, statistics, physics or computer science.

*** APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN ***

At ATASS Sports, we apply cutting-edge statistical and mathematical techniques to forecast the results of sporting events, and in 2020 we'll be running a special introductory workshop on the statistical language R, and how it can be used to solve problems in the field of sports modelling.

During the two-day workshop (which we’ll be running twice - once in April, and once in June), you'll learn the essentials of R from the ground up, and will have the opportunity to work hands-on with real sports data under the guidance of our expert statisticians. And of course, you'll also get to sample the very best of West Country hospitality.

The event will take place in Exeter at our award-winning headquarters, Oxygen House. Full travel expenses and two nights of hotel accommodation (for Wed 15 & Thu 16 April / Tue 23 & Wed 24 June) will be provided, along with evening entertainment after the first workshop day.

Applications are welcomed from penultimate/final-year undergraduates or Masters/PhD students in mathematics, statistics, physics or computer science. Places will be allocated on a competitive basis. To apply, please visit https://atasssports.recruitee.com/o/learning-r-through-modelling-sports-an-interactive-introduction-to-the-r-language-1 and submit your CV, along with a paragraph briefly explaining why you'd like to attend (200 words maximum).

The deadline for applications is Friday 31 January 2020 at 23:59.
