At ATASS, we are passionate about sport and the outdoors. For that reason, we decided to support the South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA) through a Euro 2024 fundraising campaign called Every Mile Matters.
We set ourselves a target of raising enough to become a Business Mile Maker, which is the cost on average to maintain one mile of the SWCP trail per year – £1500.
Our main challenge was called Euros Route to the Final, and this involved 2 teams running, walking or cycling the distance between all the stadiums on England and Germany’s route to the final in Berlin. Between 28 of us, the England and Germany team both hit their targets of reaching Berlin, with each team travelling distances of 2191km and 3043km respectively throughout July.
Thank you to the incredible effort of everyone that got involved, be it racing, sponsoring, or simply being the lucky winner of our sweepstake; between us we managed to far exceed our initial target by raising a total of £3003.54 which actually means we can support the SWCPA for 2 miles.
This challenge has been a great way to keep active because we’ve been sponsoring for every kilometer covered and stadium visited. Of course, at ATASS, we’re always up for a little bit of competition too, so an individual leaderboard for distances quite literally kept everyone on their toes and provided the motivation for 18 athletes to individually complete more than 100km throughout the challenge.
To celebrate our achievements and recognise the impact of our endeavours, a group of us at ATASS recently hiked a section of the path and were presented with our Mile Maker award by SWCPA on the trail itself.
